Well, we are almost there. My bags are (mostly) packed, and we’re ready to head to Charlotte and see what we can do at the AKC Agility Nationals. I know it’s going to be a lot of fun visiting old and new friends, and I’m excited to see what Trip can do. One run can make or break us, but I intend to lay it all out there everytime we step to the line. I’ll try to post updates while I’m there as well. 🙂
Well, we finally did it. We went to San Marcos for the ADOC AKC trial, and Trip went 4/4, getting Double Qs #18 and #19. She’s been very consistent then year, but not quite THAT consistent, and I’m thrilled we were finally able to put together that perfect weekend. She got 3 1sts and a 2nd, so she was definitely moving too.
Not to be outdone, Mardi went 3/4. Her one NQ was a JWW run Saturday, where I had her turned and looking at me, calling off an off-course tunnel, and when I turned away to run the line, she turned back and went in the tunnel. I think Mardi just wanted to remind me that she can keep me humble. Her runs weren’t the greatest this weekend–we really weren’t very connected, and had a lot of “oh S@#$” moments, but still held it together for some good times. She got a 1st in Standard, and 2 2nds on Sunday.
I think I’ve got Trip peaking at just the right time for Nationals. We’ve been working hard, and she has really been responding. I can’t wait to see what she does in Charlotte–I have high hopes for some fabulous runs.
Here are the girls’ runs from this weekend:
Well, we’re heading to San Marcos tomorrow for an AKC trial Saturday/Sunday. I’ll also get to go shopping at the outlet mall after running Saturday–quite possibly, the perfect weekend. Trip is looking for 3 QQs for her MACH–I’m hoping for at least one this weekend. We are still searching for that elusive “perfect weekend,” but seem to be peaking at the right time for the AKC Nationals, and that’s all that really matters.
Next weekend we’ll be in Belton for another AKC trial, and then just a few days later, Trip and I will be flying to Charlotte for the NATIONALS!!! I’m sure it will be a great trip. 🙂
