Well, the puppies are almost 8 weeks old (2 days away). We went to my friend Ann’s house to visit today, and she helped me take some proper stacked pictures of them. I just wanted to be able to assess their structure a little bit better then while watching them run around. 🙂 Here are the best of the bunch…
Well, the Tripletts are doing great! They are now 7 weeks old, and in constant motion. I had a puppy party a week ago, and lots of great dog friends came over to socialize the puppies. They had a great time, and were the most wiped out I’ve ever seen them. Of course, by that night, they were ready to go again. They had their first set of vaccines, and got to play all day at the vet clinic with some girls.
For Christmas, we went to New Orleans. They were ANGELS in the car. Nobody pooped or peed in the big crate they shared, and they all slept the entire time. PERFECT puppies! They were very well-behaved in New Orleans, and ran all over the place like they owned it. They got to meet more new people, and a new dog, and did great. And they were excellent dogs again on the ride home.
Both Crackle and Pop met their new moms, though they’re not quite ready to go home yet. I think both Trish and Noel will be very happy with their puppies. I know they’re going to have a lot of fun! 🙂
Had the first good clicker session today. I’d introduced everyone to the concept of the clicker, but hadn’t done much else with it yet. Today, I worked on eye contact. Ticket and Pop both got it very quickly, and were holding eye contact. Crackle had a little bit harder time–he kept trying to mug me to get the treat, so I decided to work on the sit first, and then eye contact. By the end of the session, he was doing MUCH better. I can’t wait to continue to work with them. It’s a lot of fun to see their little brains turn on.
Tonight will be their first night sleeping in crates alone. I think they will do just fine, though I anticipate a little crying. I also want to work on walking on leash, as I’d like them to be introduced to that before they go to their new homes. So much to do, so little time… 🙂
The Tripletts were 6 weeks old on Thursday, and continue to grow. They are into everything! They love to play and tug, and begun to torture Mardi and Shiner, and are very full of themselves. It looks like Crackle is going to have two blue eyes, and Snap is going to have one blue eye and one brown eye.
The pups had their first trip outside today. It has been rainey, cold, and miserable, so unfortunately I haven’t been able to do it until now. They had a great time. Trip probably enjoyed it the most–she was zooming the entire length of the yard, trying to get the puppies to chase her. They would–for a few feet, and then she was gone. I think she’ll have a lot of fun once they’re bigger. They all had a good time exploring.
